Dr. Robin Unger invited speaker at the 14th AMWC in Monaco March 2016. Dr. Unger will be joining experts from across the globe at the world’s leading anti-aging and aesthetic congress. She will be speaking on two topics which are Surgical Procedures for Restoration of Cicatricial Alopecia and How to Prevent Complications in Hair Restoration Surgery.
Cicatricial Alopecias have always been very difficult to treat medically and progress is being made on that front. The list includes many conditions such as Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, LichenPlanoPilaris, Folliculitis deCalvans, and Central Centrifugal Alopecia. Even after achieving control medically, the patient is often left with scars which are very visible and disfiguring. Surgical treatment of these areas is controversial and Dr. Unger describes some “best practices” in approaching these patients, as well as treating the more straight forward traumatic scars.
The second topic, preventing complications in hair restoration surgery, is one which Dr. under regularly teaches in her clinic to the international Fellows who train with her and at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Unger believes the best approach to surgical hair restoration is to approach the patient with a conservative surgical plan that takes into consideration areas of future hair loss while simultaneously treating areas of current concern. The donor area needs to be carefully evaluated to prevent unsightly scars and manage the recipient area accordingly.
Dr. Robin Unger is honored to be speaking with world leaders in this anti-aging conference, including her good friend and colleague, Dr. Heidi Waldorf, who will be an Honorary President of the conference along with Dr. Barry Sears and Dr. Randolph Waldman.
